L.A. Lee YMCA Presents: Sankofa

A historical fiction dramatic play featuring young actors and actresses between the ages of 6 and 15. They will take you on a journey in the lives of men and women that were very intricate in the development and success of the Sistrunk corridor.

Come and see this beautiful play written and performed by our youth!

“SANKOFA”- is a word in the Twi language of Ghana that translates to “Go back and get it” (san – to return; ko – to go; fa – to fetch, to seek and take)

With a series of intergenerational community gatherings (Kikis), arts workshops and other events the Sistrunk Legacy project invites the elders and youth of Historical Sistrunk to share and document their memories and stories of this unforgettable, unshakeable neighborhood and to transform those powerful lived histories into extraordinary art.
