This event will screen a documentary* followed by a panel discussion from African American and Jewish leaders.  The stream will be the panel discussion that starts at 7PM.

The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale is proud to partner with the Organizer Children’s Services Council Of Broward And Jewish Federation Of Broward County with the 10 Days of Connection Event “From Sinai to Selma” at the Nova Southeastern University: Museum of Art.

From Sinai to Selma is a perspective on the similarities between Jewish and African American experiences in the struggle for freedom and equity. “From Sinai to Selma,” will explore the shared history and achievements of the Jewish and African-American communities. The Children’s Services Council and the Jewish Federation of Broward is bringing together South Florida locals for the screening of  the film, From Swastika to Jim Crow*, which illuminates the story of Jewish intellectuals who escaped Nazi Germany and then faced anti-Semitism in the U.S., only to be embraced by Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the segregated South. The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion that covers the history and present-day collaborations among Jews and African-Americans in Broward.
