ArtStART On Sistrunk: May 12
You are invited to meet the talented ArtStART 2017 artists, discover their work, and learn more about the ArtStART Mentoring Emerging Teenage Artists program.
Nine emerging teenage artists continue to showcase their art as the ArtStART 2017 Exhibit travels to various locations in Broward County. Thanks to ArtStART 2017, a professional development program created by local ceramic artist and Sistrunk Artist in Residence, Cheryl Brown, these teens will share their work with Sistrunk’s Northwest Gardens community.
The 9 ArtStART artists are Mariangela Baigorria, Mariana Espinosa, Justin Francis, Gabriella Garcias, Megan Lewis, Brianna Mason, Brian Mendez, Marcus Pierre-Louis, and Breanna Watson.
Each artist attends the Dillard High School Center for the Arts and Emerging Computer Technology county-wide magnet program. Dillard High School is a Broward County public school located near downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Through ArtStART 2017 workshops, the young artists learned how to make art presentations, put together an art exhibit, and curate an art exhibit with multiple artists.
Funding for this project is provided in part by the Broward County Board of Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council. ArtStART 2016 is a collaboration with Broward Schools and supported by ArtServe, FATVillage, ArtTrax Studios & Gallery, the Girls’ Club, and local artists, Francisco Sheuat and Carlos Pundik.
