Mother’s Day YAA ArtHouse Photoshoot
On Tuesday, May 16th the YAA ArtHouse celebrated the 3rd Annual Mother’s Day Photoshoot as part of the Love Yourself Active Older Adult Self Care Day in partnership with the YMCA. The theme for the day was Peace and Love and included a spa day complete with manicures and pedicures by Heavenly Hair and Nails, music and dancing, and still life painting. The mothers in the community were treated to a complimentary makeover by professional makeup artist, Demi Rushe. They then sat for the Award-winning Photographer of Media Production, Guy Brooksbank. Guy was introduced to the transformative power of images while with the monks of Namgyal Monastery in Dharamsala, India; who taught him to shoot, edit and preserve the teachings of the Dalai Lama of Tibet. Brooksbank donated his services to help capture the beauty and strength of the women who make up our community. His images can be viewed at guybrooksbank.com. We want to say thank you to everybody who made this photoshoot possible- the YMCA of SFL, Heavenly Hair and Nails, Demi Rushe, Guy Brooksbank, and Dolores Godinez-White. The photos will be displayed around the Sistrunk Area as part of Destination Sistrunk.
The YMCA Living Healthy Interactive 6 week series will continue on Tuesdays, May 23-June 27, 10am-1pm. Art and Lunch will be included at the YAA ArtHouse.
